Travelling on a diet, yes it’s possible!
Moving to the UK hasn’t been easy let me assure you. Visa applications, rental contracts, transportation arrangements can all be common barriers to losing your head! Correct me if I’m wrong, but losing your head often involves losing your way with eating healthy.
Don’t get me wrong, even as a Nutrition ‘expert’ I was tempted tonight to order a bottle of good french vin rouge and a cheese platter for dinner and call it a day. My situation currently is not ideal….staying in a hotel for a week until a contract is sorted for a rental property, Thankfully my mindset has not changed……my fitness and health is a major priority for me. This means that I I am making an effort to look for ways to keep on track.
What I love about living in new places is checking out local supermarkets! Doing a bit of a detective work pays off and can solve the common barrier of “I’m travelling therefore I can’t eat healthily’. The closest supermarket to me was Tesco and I was pleasantly surprised with healthy options. Portion packed veggies/salad and protein options for 4 pounds.
My choice…..Protein packed roast chicken and egg with a side or superfood and red pepper salad. Low GI and protein and antioxidant rich, sorted!
My best tip when eating out or on the run….. choose ‘protein and colour’….lean protein and loads of antioxidant rich salad/vegetables. There is always a way, it just takes determination and persistence.
